About this app
Sugarizer brings the Sugar learning platform to your phone or tablet. Sugar was built for the One Laptop per Child project and has been used by more than 2 million children. The home screen is a set of activities, and each activity is a small program for drawing, writing, maths, games or making things.
The activities are packed inside the app, so you do not need a website to use them. There are tools for drawing and writing, a calculator, chess, memory games, mazes and puzzles, a clock and a stopwatch, and block-based programming with Turtle Blocks and Scratch. Whatever a child makes is kept in a Journal, the same way it works on the original Sugar laptops. The app can be switched between several languages, including English, French, Spanish, German, Portuguese, Arabic, Japanese and Polish.
It is a big download, because all the activities are packed inside (the version on F-Droid is about 190 MB). The app runs in landscape orientation only. Working together with other children needs a Sugarizer Server, which a school or a family can run themselves.
