About this app
Codec2 Talkie turns your phone into the front end of a digital voice radio. You can hold voice conversations using the open Codec2 and OPUS codecs, and send or receive APRS position reports and short messages, with a map showing where other stations are and a log of the raw traffic.
The phone talks to a KISS modem over Bluetooth, BLE, USB or TCP/IP — LoRa, AFSK, FSK, or software like Direwolf — or straight to an analog transceiver through a USB audio adapter, keying it with VOX or USB CAT. It can also sit on the air as an APRS digipeater or an internet gateway.
This is a radio amateur's tool, not a chat app. You need the radio hardware or modem yourself, and a licence to transmit on the ham bands.
