About this app
Pixelfed is photo sharing that feels a lot like Instagram, except it runs on many independent servers instead of one company's. This is the official app: post pictures, scroll your feed, follow people, leave comments and send messages.
Pixelfed speaks ActivityPub, so the people you follow do not have to be on the same server as you — or even on Pixelfed. Someone posting from Mastodon or another fediverse site can turn up in your feed just the same.
You will need an account on a Pixelfed server before you can sign in; the app is the window onto the network, not the network itself.
