About this app

OwnTV plays live channels, films and series from IPTV sources on an Android TV, a streaming box or a Fire TV stick. Add an Xtream login, an M3U playlist or a Stalker portal and you get a proper programme guide, categories, favourites, catch-up TV, resume points and separate profiles.

It runs two playback engines and lets you pick per channel: mpv handles awkward formats in films and series, while ExoPlayer switches live channels almost instantly. There is 4K HDR playback, subtitles from files or OpenSubtitles, a picture-in-picture mini player, an audio-only mode and downloads for watching later. The whole interface is built for a remote control.

OwnTV comes with no channels, playlists or subscriptions — you supply your own legal sources. It is built for Android TV only, so it expects a remote rather than a touchscreen, and it isn't on any app store — you install the APK from the project's own releases page.
