About this app
Notification Dictionary shows you what a word means without leaving the app you are in. Select a word in a browser, an e-book or a chat, choose Meaning from the text-selection menu, and the definition appears as a notification. You can also share text to it, or type a word into the app to look it up.
Tap the notification to see every meaning of the word, tap a meaning to copy it, or long-press it to share. Buttons on the notification can share the meaning, read it aloud with Android's own text-to-speech, or mark the word as a favourite. The app keeps a history of the words you looked up and a list of your favourites. Meanings come from Wiktionary and include the part of speech. You can pick English, French, German or Polish, one language at a time.
On first start the app has to download a dictionary file, which is tens of megabytes (English is around 50 MB), and every extra language is a separate download from the developer's own CDN. After that, lookups work offline. It needs permission to show notifications, and it only works in apps that offer the standard text-selection menu.
